THE NEWBORN KING: ENMITY

A contemplative reading for Advent.

 
I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.

GENESIS 3:15 ESV

In the first pages of the first book of the Bible, we see the beginning of the rivalry between God's people and "the serpent". This verse comes from the curse pronounced on Adam, Eve and the serpent and sets the stage for man's unending struggle with the temptation to act against the loving will of God.

 

READ & RECITE

Read Genesis 3:15 a second time, but aloud and slowly, allowing each word to sink in.
